Reading stories

Now lets talk books.
I realize that mostly I have no one to talk to about what I am reading, because my friends either don't read or read different books.
I've always loved reading, whether its an actual book or on laptop (still waiting on for my Kindle). When I began my first year of university after couple of monthes I've discovered Goodreads and websites for online reading/ downloading of books, but most of all I've rediscovered chick-lit.
Its not that I haven't read Confessions of a Shopaholic books and The Devil Wears Prada but never knew the genre of these books was chick-lit. Nevertheless after all these new discoveries I dived into these new discovered books by Sophie Kinsella, Lindsey Kelk, Jenny Colgan and Co. It was funny, light reading that after awhile became very predictable.
And my Goodreads list became very very long (more that 300 books) and sometimes I think that I won't be able to read all the books I've listed there.
But since my chick-lit obsessive reading time is mostly behind me I find it hard to find to describe what exacly I look in a book nowadays.

I think that now I just want a good book, I've started 'All the Light We Cannot See' by Anthony Doerr, and it's going slow, his writing is different from what I am used to and because I read it in russian it is little bit difficult for me.
Shame that I got so not used to read in russian, or hebrew for that matter, I really should read more in those languages.
Next I think I will try to read more 'smart' books, I have so many to choose from, there are so many great authors out there that I think lifetime won't be enough to read them all.
